puppies are doing well, eating, sleeping,
getting cleaned by Mom, navigating across
the whelping box like little salamanders,
sleeping, and eating some more. The
bigger ones can sort of lift their tummies
off the ground and move faster.
Truffle had an upset tummy for a few
days. Thankfully that is past
now. She only ate one placenta, so we
don't know if that caused it or something
else. But now she's back to
normal. It's hard to get her to stay
away from the puppies for more than about 3
minutes -- out to pee, check around the deck
for toads, and back to the door to come
in. She will frequently lie outside of
the whelping box, ready to step in if there
is any activity.
These pictures are Day 6, so not a full
week, but this is when I have time.
The puppies don't really like photo
sessions, and mommy is good about it but
she's happier when I put them back. So
I take what I get, I don't want to spend a
long time on it.
I think the darker puppies (2 and 3, maybe
also 4) will have coloring similar to
Truffle -- sable and goldish-reddish-tan,
with white markings. 1 and 5 are
lighter, I'm not sure what they will
look like. Knox Rhine is betting fawn
